Your safety is our top priority. We are continuing to follow the mandates from the Governor’s Office and the CDC guidelines. Face coverings are no longer mandatory on campus, including all NSC buildings, classrooms, the plaza area, and all student services areas. While face coverings will no longer be required in public spaces, please be cognizant that COVID-19 is ongoing. Take into consideration your health and health of others when making a personal decision.
Outside of the classroom, expect to see signage, floor decals, and fewer chairs (to discourage large gatherings). Since people can spread the virus before they know they are sick, it is essential to stay away from others even if you have no symptoms.
Student services areas with a counter may have a plexiglass barrier, and hand sanitizing stations have been added to each floor near entrances, stairwells, and elevators.
What is the quarantine guidance if a person is exposed to COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19?
A student who has tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, must quarantine for 5 days and mask for another 5 days.
For spring 2022, students are not required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 to come to campus or attend classes. Students who wish to enroll for the summer or fall 2022 semester may need additional immunizations – please refer to the requirements here.
If you do not feel well, do not come to campus. Students should conduct a personal symptom monitoring check every day before leaving for school. At this time, symptoms include one or more of the following:

Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to notify Dr. Stefanie Coleman, Dean of Students, at Stefanie.Coleman@nsc.flywheelstaging.com and complete the self-reporting form.
Positive COVID-19 test reports will be kept in the strictest confidence and will only be shared with individuals with a need know (e.g., Human Resources, General Counsel) as well as County health officials. Human Resources will provide support and guidance to students who test positive for COVID-19.

Return to Campus Requirements
Students who have tested positive for COVID-19, have come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 or are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms must either (1) self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days, and be free of ALL symptoms or (2) notified by the Division of College and Community Engagement of return date to class, if not showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Elevators
We cannot maintain social distancing in an elevator; therefore, we ask that you try to keep the number of people in the elevator to a minimum. If you have an underlying health issue that requires you to take the elevator or if you need an individual with you for physical assistance or an ADA accommodation, that is appropriate and understandable. If you can take the stairs, please take the stairs.
Missed Class or Assignments
Students who miss class or are unable to turn in assignments due to COVID or other extenuating circumstances may submit a student absence notification request. If approved, student success staff will reach out to your faculty and advocate for alternative arrangements. While there are limitations to this consideration and not every request is approved, students are encouraged to review this resource at www.nsc.flywheelstaging.com/sans for complete information.
