I have been a pediatric nurse throughout my career, and my diverse clinical background as a hospital pediatric nurse, clinical nurse specialist, trauma center researcher, outpatient case manager, nurse practitioner, and home health nurse serves my students at Nevada State College. I also extensive higher education experience, having taught students in baccalaureate, associate degree, and master’s level nursing programs. In teaching, I integrate learning activities that expose students to contemporary healthcare issues such as evidence-based practice, research, emotional and developmental needs of children and families, and community resources. As a founding faculty member of Nevada State College, I am dedicated to preparing students who are already excellent practitioners or beginning nurse scholars. The philosophy of nursing as caring influences my teaching, scholarship, and service. I have conducted research and presented at international conferences on how students develop caring attributes. My most recent research is focused on the influence of high-technology simulation on student learning.
