“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” —Benjamin Franklin
I believe in experiential learning because nursing is both an art and a science. Nursing education should focus in both cognitive skills and nursing competencies. As an educator, I believe that I have a critical role to perform for my students – that of an effective facilitator of learning that carefully designs instructional activities so my students can be more actively involved in their own learning experiences. As the facilitator of learning, I understand that students prefer to learn in many different ways and it is my responsibility to provide a respectful learning environment that promotes creativity, curiosity, and open-mindedness.
