Jonathan Dunning, Ph.D.

As the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, I assist in the school’s daily and long-term functioning by managing and/or overseeing major operations and projects involving faculty affairs, student affairs, and curriculum/education.
As a psychology professor at NSC, my primary goal is to show students that the things they learn about or discover in psychology are extremely useful in everyday life and applicable to real world issues. I also strive to excite students about psychology and the research process in our discipline. My own research investigates how people experience emotion, and aims to better understand the basis of fear learning, fear generalization, and anxiety disorders. More recently, I’ve merged my teaching and research endeavors by engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).
