I became a nursing educator after a great deal of introspection. As a nurse working on a clinical unit, I recognized that my opportunity to work with a set number of patients on any given day would add up to a beautiful number of lives reached over the course of my professional practice. However, when I realized that by educating student nurses the total number of lives I could touch directly and indirectly in a professional lifetime would increase exponentially, I knew that nursing education was the path for me.
