I am lucky to combine a teaching career with my passion for nursing. I trained at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center emergency room, one of the largest and most esteemed public trauma centers in the country. I enjoy caring for marginalized and minority populations. One of my best nursing experiences included a medical mission to Belize, where I, along with other nurses and doctors, rendered care to villagers in remote rural areas. Another notable experience was leading Nevada State College students on a Spanish immersion course to Guadalajara, Mexico. There, I supervised students who lived with families while taking courses at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. In addition to teaching, I work as a nurse practitioner, treating minority populations at a busy urgent care center in the heart of Las Vegas. I hope to inspire students to provide thoughtful, high quality care.
