Shartriya Collier-Stewart, Ed.D.

I am a new arrival to NSC and excited to continue my life mission of “transforming the world, one mind at a time”. Prior to my new position, I was Professor in the Department of Elementary Education at California State University, Northridge where for 13 years, I instructed courses related to bilingual education, English language learners, literacy development, and multicultural education. I also taught courses in the Linguistics Department specifically focused upon TESOL methods, language, gender, identity, and multiple literacies. During my tenure at CSUN, I served in several leadership roles including serving as Director of the LA Times Literacy Center, MA Program Coordinator, Chair of the College Curriculum Committee and Co-PI of the Future Male Minority Teachers Grant. I earned my B.A. in Spanish from Xavier University in New Orleans. I received a master’s degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I completed my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Temple University in Philadelphia.
