Tanya graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Nevada State College. During her time as a student, she worked in the Academic Success Center as a course assistant and eventually became a mentor for the Course Assistant Program. In addition to holding these positions, she was involved in numerous research projects analyzing various social issues from media depictions of undocumented immigrants to perceptions of Indigenous Women and Girls.
As a first generation, non-traditional college student she is passionate about assisting students during their educational journeys; she knows firsthand the importance of having support as you pursue your dreams. She is guided by the philosophy of “each one, teach one,” and believes every student has unlimited potential. In her free time she likes to hang out with her fur babies, do yoga, and read anything Stephen King writes.
