My areas of expertise are science education and teacher preparation. I received my B.S. in Molecular Biology and M.S.T. in Biology from the University of West Florida, and Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have over 15 years of experience as a student and teacher of science/education and have taught K-12 sciences as well as undergraduate and graduate science education/pedagogy courses. My experience in science education teaching has made me a firm supporter of science inquiry and reform-based instruction. I enjoy working with pre-service k-12 teachers and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners. My interests include reform-based instruction in STEM education, especially in terms of equity, multilingual learners, and teacher preparation.
