Dear Campus Community,

Due to escalating concerns regarding COVID-19, Nevada State College is accelerating our campus-wide response. Today, I am announcing that the following changes will take place in the upcoming weeks:

1. On Wednesday, March 18th, we will begin to transition our in-person courses to a remote format. To assist in this transition, all in-person courses from March 18th-March 20th will utilize alternative assignments that do not require in-person attendance.
2. Individual faculty may choose to move their classes to a remote format before March 23rd if they are prepared to do so and will inform students immediately.
3. On March 23rd, all in-person and hybrid courses will be offered entirely in a remote format. Remote learning can occur in many ways, so instructors will be contacting their students regarding the ways their class will adapt to this modality. Some learning experiences, such as student teaching, speech pathology clinical experiences, and nursing clinical experiences, will continue at their current locations.
4. Beginning March 16th, our Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) will provide additional support for faculty as they transition their courses to a remote format.
5. Classes will be held in a remote format until further notice.

During this time, the campus will remain open and all support services will be operational. More information will be forthcoming regarding how these services may adapt to provide services remotely. At this time, student workers will continue their current work schedules.

Students who are at elevated risk for COVID-19 should contact their course instructor immediately to determine the appropriate accommodations. Faculty and staff who are at elevated risk should contact Human Resources at NHR@nsc.flywheelstaging.com to discuss potential options.

Updates will be delivered on a regular basis to campus regarding this transition to remote learning. As Provost, I encourage faculty, staff, and students to demonstrate patience, compassion, and sound reasoning in the face of our anticipated challenges. The news surrounding this fluid, rapidly-evolving situation may seem daunting, but I am confident that we will overcome this obstacle and any others that come our way, drawing from our remarkable strength as a community.
