Dear NSC Community,
Based on the Governor’s announcement yesterday evening followed by a memo from the NSHE Chancellor later last night, Nevada State is expediting the closure of its physical offices and beginning across the campus delivery of remote instruction and student support.
As of noon today the physical operations of the following offices/services are closed and all personnel should begin working remotely:
Library
Academic Support
Computer Rooms
Financial Aid
Bursars Office/Cashiering
Registrar
Admissions & Recruitment
Career Services Center
Bookstore
If appointments have been scheduled, Advising and Disability Resources will honor those appointments until 5 pm today utilizing social distancing. The NSC food pantry is now making referrals to community resources. Please contact Laura Hinojosa directly at (702) 992-2514 or email laura.hinojosa@nsc.flywheelstaging.com for a consultation.
As of 5 pm today, all campus buildings will be closed until further notice and may only be accessed by faculty and staff through FOB access, only as critically necessary and utilizing social distancing.
Individuals identified as essential personnel as identified by their supervisors in order to maintain physical facilities, technological infrastructure, and safety/police will continue to report to work.
Spring Break
As a reminder, NSC’s Spring Break for School of Education and the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences will move to March 23 to 27. The School of Nursing’s Spring Break will remain April 1 to 7. It is our hope this change will also allow students, faculty, and staff more time to care for your families and address other personal matters.
It is imperative to follow the Governor’s directives to avoid travel and to maintain social distancing.
Telecommuting and Paid Administrative Leave
All employees including part-time and student workers remain in paid status and will be assigned telecommuting responsibilities or paid administrative leave as appropriate. Employees and supervisors should reference the Emergency Telecommute Work Requirement document. Additionally and unless otherwise directed by your supervisor, employees should remain at home, and should contact their supervisor via phone or email to identify and discuss work plans and telecommute expectations.
Safety and Security
University Police Services will continue patrolling the campus grounds and are available 24/7. For police assistance in the case of an immediate emergency or crime in progress, dial 911 from a campus landline or 702-895-3669 from a cellphone. For non-emergency situations, call 311 from a campus landline or 702-895-3668 from a cellphone.
Suspended Services
Dining Services, Campus Commuter, and Scorpion Shuttle service will suspend operation until further notice.
