Dear Campus Community,
As most of you know by now, Governor Sisolak held two news conferences today to announce important and evolving State responses to the COVID-19 health crisis. CCSD is cancelling classes beginning March 16th (tomorrow) through April 6th. It is unclear at this time when and if the district will be able to move to remote instruction.
Chancellor Thom Reilly (memo attached) has instructed the NSHE institutions to commence with remote instruction no later than March 18th (Wednesday). In light of these recent developments, no face-to-face classes will be held on Monday and Tuesday as previously planned. Faculty members are encouraged to engage with their students remotely this entire week.
College Leadership will be in emergency planning sessions tomorrow to determine how we are going to address all other aspects of operations. The campus will remain open. Student employees should plan to maintain their regular schedules. If you are sick, please stay home. If you are in a high-risk category and feel you should work from home for that reason, you need to consult Human Resources at NHR@nsc.flywheelstaging.com.
Thank you for your on-going cooperation and patience with this unprecedented health crisis.
To reiterate: STUDENTS SHOULD NOT COME TO CAMPUS FOR CLASSES OR REPORT TO STUDENT TEACHING OR CLINICAL ASSIGNMENTS TOMORROW AND FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEK.
Sincerely,
Vickie Rutledge Shields, PhD
Provost and Executive Vice President
