Dear Nevada State Community;

For the past several weeks, Nevada has shown an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday, Governor Steve Sisolak announced “Stay at Home 2.0” to lessen the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Over the next two weeks, Nevadans are asked to stay at home as much as possible and to not participate in gatherings with people who do not live in the same household.

The Nevada State College community will be proactive and do our part by continuing to physically social distance, wearing a face covering, washing hands frequently, and avoiding social gatherings. All gatherings, meetings, and events (both on and off campus) should be limited to those that are small, truly essential, and cannot occur in a virtual format.

Remember, these are the best practices we encourage at Nevada State:

1. Maintain social distancing of 6 feet at all times. If you must be closer than 6 feet to another person for an interaction, make sure the total amount of time does not exceed 15 minutes cumulative over a 24-hour period.
2. Wear a face covering at all times when interacting with others.
3. Wash your hands often, and use hand sanitizer when washing is impractical.
4. Do not come to campus if you know you were exposed to COVID-19. You should stay home for 14 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19. Even if you test negative for COVID-19 or feel healthy, you should stay home (quarantine) since symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
5. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, get tested and stay off campus. To determine when it is safe to return to being around others, check here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/end-home-isolation.html.
6. To schedule a free COVID-19 test, visit: https://www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/covid-19-testing-sites/.
7. If you potentially or are confirmed to have COVID-19, complete the Self-Report Form at nsc.flywheelstaging.com/coronavirus.

All employees are expected to fully comply with the policies, protocols, and guidelines outlined in the Return to Campus Guidelines.  Additionally, we ask that you continue following protocols for prevention, be aware of symptoms of COVID-19, and seek medical care when it is needed.
