Dear Nevada State College Community,
As I sit to write, my heart is full of gratitude. After having moved across country with just my mighty but tiny family, I was able to enjoy something this past week I had taken for granted: time with my loved ones—chosen and blood. I had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with extended family and friends this year. As we all gathered around various tables over the weekend, I was taken aback by how this holiday felt particularly both different and the same as we reconnected while also celebrating new moments in everyone’s lives.
Nevada State provides a new, exciting chapter for all our dynamic students. Our mission has never been more critical in making a profound and meaningful generational impact that truly changes family trees. I couldn’t be more honored to be part of their journey. I also have such gratitude for the outstanding Nevada State faculty and staff and all the advocates that work day in and day out to make the hopes and dreams of the new majority a reality. We are so fortunate to be able to do this work for our students, community, and state.
Last week was a short week—but a very important one. I was delighted to spend some time with Senator Jacky Rosen. We are very fortunate in Nevada to have tremendous federal delegates to advocate on our behalf. I met with Dr. Gregory Robinson and Dr. Gwen Sharp to discuss their work in the Provost office. I met with Nicole Wesley, Director of Career Services, and her staff, to introduce and brief me on all the excellent work for such an essential service our institution provides. I also continued talking with the Board of Regents to connect before the quarterly board meeting this week.
In closing, as many of us were fortunate enough to spend time with loved ones, I encourage each of you to spend some time thinking about how you make a difference in the lives of students. You put in the hard work to make a generational change – please accept my gratitude for you!
Be Well!
